This Privacy Policy describes how BuildThread ("BuildThread," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and discloses information in connection with our website (buildthread.co) and our software platform (collectively, the "Services").
BuildThread provides software to homebuilders ("Clients") to manage buyer communication, prospect intelligence, and related construction-sales workflows. In most cases, our Clients are the data controllers of personal information belonging to their prospects, buyers, and homeowners, and BuildThread acts as a data processor on their behalf. This Privacy Policy explains our practices both as the operator of buildthread.co and as a processor of data on behalf of our Clients. A Data Processing Addendum is available upon request for Clients requiring one as part of their own compliance or procurement process.
Information You Provide Directly
Pilot request and contact form information, including name, builder name and location, job title, work email, and any message submitted.
Account information, if you or your organization becomes a BuildThread Client, including company name, billing contact, and authorized user details.
Information Collected on Behalf of Our Clients
When a builder uses BuildThread, the following categories of information may be collected from that builder's prospects and buyers, on the builder's behalf and at the builder's direction: name, phone number, and email address; conversation content and transcripts with BuildThread's AI prospect agent, including stated preferences, objections, and conversation history; AI-generated synopses, dossiers, and engagement scoring derived from that conversation content; construction milestone and project status information tied to a specific home; photos voluntarily uploaded by a buyer; and design and product selection preferences.
Information Collected Automatically
Standard website usage data, including pages visited, browser type, device type, and IP address, along with cookies and similar technologies described in Section 8.
We use information to operate, maintain, and improve the Services; to enable our Clients to communicate with their prospects and buyers, including through SMS messaging and the AI prospect agent; to generate prospect intelligence, dossiers, and reporting for our Clients; to respond to pilot requests and account inquiries; to maintain the security and integrity of the Services; and to comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell personal information to third parties. As described in Section 6, we may use de-identified, aggregated data drawn from multiple Clients to produce market-level insights, but we do not share one Client's identifiable prospect or buyer data with another Client.
This section applies specifically to text messaging originator opt-in data and consent collected in connection with SMS communications sent through the Services, such as construction milestone updates sent to homebuyers.
Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent is never shared with, sold to, or disclosed to any third party or affiliate for marketing or promotional purposes, for any reason, at any time. This category of data is excluded from any general data-sharing practices described elsewhere in this Privacy Policy.
SMS messages sent through BuildThread are transactional in nature, limited to construction milestone updates, project status notifications, and related communications a buyer would reasonably expect after providing their phone number to their builder.
A buyer's phone number and consent to receive SMS messages is obtained by the Client at the time the buyer is enrolled in the Services, separate from any general account or contract terms. The Client builder determines which buyers and prospects are enrolled in SMS messaging and when that enrollment occurs; BuildThread provides the underlying messaging infrastructure on the Client's behalf.
Recipients may opt out of SMS messages at any time by replying STOP to any message. Reply HELP for assistance. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies based on construction milestone activity. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
If you are a homebuyer or prospect who no longer wishes to receive messages from a builder using BuildThread, you may text STOP to the number messaging you, or contact the builder directly.
We share information only in the following circumstances.
With the Client who collected it. Builder Clients have access to data collected from their own prospects and buyers, including AI-generated dossiers and synopses derived from that data.
With service providers who help us operate the Services, including Supabase for database hosting, Twilio for SMS message delivery, Stripe for payment processing, and Netlify for application hosting. These providers are contractually restricted to using data only as necessary to provide their services to us, and not for their own independent purposes.
With a third-party Partner Service, but only when a buyer affirmatively requests that connection, for example by requesting a quote or expressing interest in a specific offering described in Section 5. Only the information necessary to fulfill that specific request, such as name, contact information, and relevant project details, is shared with that partner.
For legal reasons, if required to comply with a legal obligation, protect our rights, or respond to a valid legal process.
In connection with a business transfer, such as a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to standard confidentiality protections.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share SMS opt-in data with third parties for marketing purposes under any circumstance.
The Services may include, now or in the future, a marketplace through which buyers can access offers from third-party service partners, such as paint and color services, window treatments, fencing, internet and cable providers, home security, and moving services. BuildThread acts as a facilitator connecting buyers with these partners and is not the provider of the underlying product or service. BuildThread is not a real estate broker, agent, or advisor in connection with any Partner Service or otherwise.
A buyer's information is shared with a partner only when the buyer affirmatively opts into that specific connection. Once information is shared with a partner, that partner's own privacy practices govern its further use of that information, and BuildThread is not responsible for the partner's handling of that data. Buyers are encouraged to review a partner's privacy policy before requesting a connection.
A Client's specific conversation content is not used to train any AI model made available to or shared with another Client. BuildThread analyzes patterns across Clients, using de-identified and aggregated data only, to produce market-level insights, such as metro-area benchmarking, industry trends, and comparative statistics, for example average reactivation rates or common objection categories within a given market. These insights are derived from data across multiple Clients but do not identify any individual prospect, buyer, or specific Client by name, and cannot reasonably be used to re-identify them. This aggregated data may also be used to improve platform features and analytics functionality generally, and BuildThread may develop industry benchmarks, trend reports, and market intelligence products derived solely from this aggregated and de-identified information.
We do not share one Client's identifiable data, including the identity of a specific prospect or buyer, with another Client. If a prospect or buyer interacts with more than one builder that uses BuildThread, each Client's data relating to that individual is treated separately and is not disclosed to any other Client. BuildThread does not use one Client's confidential business information to provide a competitive advantage to another Client. See our Terms of Use for additional detail on Client confidentiality and competitive separation.
We retain personal information for as long as necessary to provide the Services to our Clients and for legitimate business purposes, such as complying with legal obligations and resolving disputes. Builders may request deletion of their account data, and prospects or buyers may request deletion of their personal information by contacting the builder directly or by contacting us at the email below. Clients may also request export of their data as described in our Terms of Use.
Our website may use cookies and similar technologies to operate core functionality and understand site usage. You can control cookies through your browser settings.
Certain features of the Services allow interaction with third-party platforms, including importing design inspiration from platforms such as Pinterest or Houzz, or sharing content to platforms such as Facebook. Use of these features is subject to the relevant third party's own terms and privacy practices. BuildThread is not responsible for how a third-party platform collects, uses, or handles information once you interact with it through these features.
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the use of your personal information. If you are a prospect or buyer whose data was collected by a builder using BuildThread, please contact that builder directly, as they control the data; we will support the builder in fulfilling your request. If you are unable to reach the builder, you may contact us directly and we will assist where possible.
The Services are not directed to individuals under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
We maintain security practices designed to protect personal information, including encryption of data in transit, role-based access controls, and authentication protections on accounts. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the Last Updated date above.
